SUMMARY
The Sr. Escort will assist in the organization, coordination, and presentation of training materials to train and prepare patient transportation department staff on the role, expectations, and functions of the patient escort. The Sr. Escort supports environments that are conducive to training and the encouragement of learning. The Sr. Escort effectively delivers content and meets the needs, wants, and levels of participants that can be effectively transferred from the classroom to the workplace. Delivers relevant content for practical application including an organized outcome driven training plan that's sets realistic goals and objectives that relate to the Core Competencies for Escorts, and the ability to check for understanding of knowledge and transferable skills. Ensures success of training through varied levels of assessment and feedback including needs assessments, on-going checks for understanding, reflections, post evaluations, and the use of data to revise delivery and content. The Senior Escort also works in the role of Escort when needed.
The first five weeks of employment will be spent in training. You must be able to attend the following mandatory training schedule: Week 1 7:30am-4:00pm/Week 2-5 6:45am-3:15pm The schedule/shift for this position is Monday-Friday/6:45am-3:15pm JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Learning Environment Utilizing the curriculum, lessons and training materials created by the Sr. Educational Specialist, the Sr. Escort conducts escort training for all department staff. Training may be in large groups or one-on-one, depending on the need.
Supervises daily patient transportation activities and resources for new employees during the new hire orientation period, employee remediation training and annual competency evaluation.
Responsible for completing feedback report on orientee escorts skills and competencies.
Assist with the development and revision of training materials, manuals, and evaluation materials.
Delegates and assigns orientee escorts work commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience of new escort, and assures the work is performed appropriately. Assists with the interviewing, hiring, orientation, and evaluation of the support staff.
Monitors workflow and work volume continuously and adjusts orientee escort's job tasks as necessary to ensure daily work completion and successful completion of department orientation.
Identifies and implements systems to streamline and gain efficiencies in work processes. Participated and serve on projects and events (i.e. Annual Training, Team Huddles, etc.)
Serves as an educational resource for support staff.
Patient Care Maintains communication to transport leadership. Monitors staff performance and workflow and reports to the transport leadership team.
Transport patients, specimens, expired patients, and department equipment safely and efficiently throughout the institution.
Assist clinical staff with safely moving patients to and from beds, wheelchairs and stretchers.
Meet and follow productivity standards and compliances set forth by department.
Equipment Care Ensure equipment is properly working prior to and after usage; promptly remove damaged and/or broken equipment from patient care areas; properly tag equipment for repair; provide and stage key areas with requested number of stretchers and wheel chairs for daily operations.
Responsible for rounding up and cleaning equipment with the proper disinfectant prior to and after each usage; return equipment to the appropriate storage location.
Maintain a working knowledge of the equipment needed to transport patients.
Effectively use all technical tools; to receive and successfully complete transports and requests.

Qualifications - External REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Some College
Experience:
Required: Two years patient transportation, patient dispatch or related hospital experience.
Licensure/Certification:
Preferred: Heart Saver with Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
