Japanese machine tool (grinder) maker seeks a bilingual service engineer.
Company Overview:
Japanese-owned company dedicated to sells and services cylindrical grinders, universal grinders, and specialized metal machine tools. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our team and contribute to our continuous growth.
Job Brief:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services to our customers at their sites, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our cylindrical grinding machines. The goal is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes customer retention, and increases profitability. However, hands-on field service is occasional, thus we are also looking for a multi-skilled person who can assist in our office with the parts inquiries, answering phone calls and emails or so.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide service and customer support on our machine during field service visits.
2. Drive in a safe manner and comply with all laws and regulations, in traveling to our customers.
3. Manage schedules with understanding of the workflow to provide an appropriate service.
4. Install and perform operational testing of cylindrical grinding machines at customer locations.
5. Diagnose and resolve technical inquiries and issues promptly and effectively.
6. Conduct repairs and replacement of machine components as needed.
7. Perform maintenance inspections, cleaning, and adjustments based on scheduled plans.
8. Communicate effectively with customers to maintain and enhance customer satisfaction.
9. To resolve difficulties, communicate with our members and share the info in a timely manner.
10. Conduct the sequential report to our team members.
11. Create technical support documentation and provide training to customers as needed.
12. Behave in an appropriate manner to build good relationships with our customers.
13. Parts quoting and processing orders from local vendors and HQ in Japan
14. Troubleshooting over the phone
15. Manage warehouse inventory for parts and units.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Detail oriented, and thorough.
- Tidy and cleanliness discipline for tools and equipment.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to technological advancements.
- Strong team player with flexibility and strong problem-solving attitude.
- Hands-on experience with machine preventative maintenance and countermeasures is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and our team members.
- Flexibility with travel including extended periods and overnight stays as required.
Additional Skills and Attributes desired:
- Proven field service experience in the installation of CNC machines, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Proficiency in English, especially in technical document reading and communication.
- Able to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, CNC technology & OSHA safety.
- Familiarity and trained regarding 3-phase Electrical power, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Mechanical motion, Sequence process, Robotic systems, and Fluid power.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- G-code programming a plus.
- Machine rigging & able to operate and drive a forklift safely
- 2–4-year degree desired but not a must, experience is a more desirable necessity.
- Japanese Speaker
- Familiarity with Japanese culture and work ethic.
Hours:
8:30AM~5:00PM
Requirements:
•Recent graduate is welcomed
•Education(A.A., courses, certifications) in Mechanical or Electrical engineer or related experience
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Salary: $60K-$70K (DOE, Exempt)
