About the role
As the Head of DevOps, you will lead the DevOps team and be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with software development, IT support, security, and operations teams to ensure a seamless integration and delivery of applications and services. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, effective communicator, and experienced in modern DevOps practices and technologies, with a strong focus on security, cost efficiency, and frugality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps team.
- Define and implement the DevOps strategy aligned with business goals.
- Advocate for and implement best practices in DevOps, including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automation.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure on AWS.
- Utilize Terraform for efficient and reliable infrastructure as code.
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Focus on cost-efficiency and frugality in infrastructure management to optimize resource usage and reduce expenses.
- CI/CD Pipeline Development:
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated testing, code quality checks, and security scans into the CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure seamless and frequent deployment of applications and updates.
- Maintain project schedules and ensure on-time delivery of infrastructure and deployment solutions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth and reliable software releases.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on infrastructure, deployments, and incidents.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the team.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain robust security best practices across all infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and data.
- Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies to proactively mitigate risks.
- Monitoring and Incident Management:
- Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
- Lead incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and post-mortem reviews.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (8+ years) in DevOps, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong experience with AWS and infrastructure as code tools, particularly Terraform (mandatory).
- Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, CircleCI, and similar.
- Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to implement cost-efficient and frugal infrastructure solutions.
- Deep understanding of security best practices and tools (e.g., OWASP, Nessus).
- Proven track record of managing projects on schedule and delivering results on time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Advanced knowledge of security practices and certifications (CISSP, CEH, etc.).
