Position: Entry Level Tax Preparer

Job Summary: The Tax Preparer is an entry-level tax preparer who provides tax services for clients. These services include the preparation of tax returns for businesses and individuals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Key and Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare complete and accurate income tax returns for corporations, partnerships and individuals
Respond to client inquiries by email and telephone
Reviews previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation.
Uses the appropriate accounting software or system to prepare tax returns.
Quantify / document tax liabilities for extensions and estimated payments
Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training.
Maintains security of sensitive client information

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Submits tax returns for review.
Works with Tax Manager to present approved returns to Tax Support.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Pursuing qualified degree in accounting or has degree in accounting
Ability to understand and apply tax laws and changes in the preparation process.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Accurate math and accounting skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn tax accounting and preparation software.
Willingness to learn
Good time management skills

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent with some training in bookkeeping and accounting required.
Associates degree or tax preparation training highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
