Steve Brown Apartments is looking for a hardworking, reliable, customer-service focused painting professional who enjoys working hard and having fun at work to join our team!
What You'll Do. You will spend 70% of your day painting apartments and common areas in our buildings and 30% doing level 1 maintenance tasks in our apartments. Maintenance tasks include daily routine, preventative, emergency, and remodeling maintenance on assigned buildings. The position is extremely valuable in terms of technical skills and direct customer service. You must be friendly, courteous, and professional at all times.
What It Takes. People who do best in this role are quick learners who take pride in their work, can work solo or in teams, and like variety and moving around. You'll need patience, respect for our residents' belongings and privacy, and a desire to provide customer service. Previous experience working in the trades, or a facilities role is beneficial, as is any specialized expertise. A high school or equivalent diploma, valid driver's license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) are required.

When and Where We'll See You. We have four department locations - one in Madison West/Middleton and three in the campus area: Lucky, Regent/Suburbs, and Downtown. Our painter will have a "home location" in the Madison West/Middleton offices but often move around throughout the year. As a full-time employee, you'll work Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Our Application Process. Applications are required. All potential candidates start with a 15-minute phone call, and those we'd like to meet are invited to interview on-site or virtually if you're not local. We typically interview each candidate at least two, sometimes four times before making an offer. We hire for the long term, not for the moment, and take the time to get it right.
