First Security Company, Inc., is looking for a talented and motivated professional to join our team as an Agency Accounting Associate. This position will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations for a growing agency. This position will work closely with the other team members including finance, operations, HR, and account management to develop and implement continuous improvement of processes.

Our headquarters is located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina in Downtown Hickory with additional locations in Boone and Winston-Salem.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform full accounting functions for agency including
    • Accounts Payable
    • Payroll Recording
    • Cash Receipts
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Carrier Payables
    • Producer/Broker Payables
    • Direct Bill Recording
    • Month End Reporting
  • Perform Reconciliations and clean-up of balance sheet general ledger accounts in agency management systems
    • Compare agency management system balances to NetSuite general ledger balances
      • Bank Balances and Reconciliations
      • Carrier Payables
      • Accounts Receivable
      • Producer/Broker Payables
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Support internal and partner agency accounting staff
    • Agency Management Accounting
    • Best Practices
    • NetSuite
  • Other ad hoc projects as requested by manager

Desired Competencies

  • 3-6 years of successful experience in a similar position.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with EPIC agency management system and NetSuite
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, as well as Outlook and Word.
  • Flexibility to work in a largely paperless environment.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
